Welcome again to the Baumtastic 5! On this edition we choose the latest technology news that has helped our lives make more sense… or completely mess it around.

On first place we have: “iPhone 5 Lost in Bar, Again?” by Hubert Nguyen

Today’s iPhone 5 top story is that Apple may have lost a next-gen iPhone… in a San Francisco bar, AGAIN! Same story as last year with iPhone 4 lost in a bar and published its secrets by Gizmodo, who still are banned from Apple events. They definitely should add to their work interviews a “bar” challenge in their interview process, or build a field testing team that can drink and not drop a “soon to be release product”.

On second place we have: “5 Wonderful Twitter Apps on Firefox to Make your Twittering Cool” by Cbegar

Your wishes have come true! This article talks about 5 apps to tweet no matter what and no matter when if your browser is Firefox. Yes the web is so wonderful than even a fox and a birth can be friends! Some of these apps are Twitbin, who lets you manage your Twitter account even when you are actually browsing some other site. And TwitKit is one of those Twitter apps on Firefox that makes Twitter management super easy by neatly blending it with your browser. Those are great tools also for

On third place we have: “Windows 8- 2 UIs Are Better than One” by Mire_B

Having both of user interfaces together harmoniously is an important part of Windows 8. Some of you are probably wondering how these parts work together to create a harmonious experience. Are there two user interfaces? Why not move on to a Metro style experience everywhere? You will find great answers for these questions

On fourth place we have: “HP Kills Off webOS Tablet and Smarthphone Business After Atrocious TouchPad Sales Fail To Dent iPad” by John Brownlee

HP’s going to suffer a big reputation hit here! They just released the Touchpad, promising ongoing support, and now they’re killing it off after just a month. Then again, there may not be all that many Touchpad customers to actually disappoint. And HP may not care about the reputation hit, since it seems fairly obvious they are aiming to leave the consumer PC space entirely. A big disappointment for HP’s fans out there but we must wait until they reveal their next move

On fifth place we have: “How to Make Facebook Video Calls” bye Joe

Facebook and Skype are closely working together to make online social interactions more interesting. Since July 6 2011, video calling allows you to talk to your friends face to face on Facebook. You have to complete a quick, one-time setup for it to work. On this article the author teaches us how to complete the setup and don’t have the typical between keyboard and chair embarrassing troubles.

As you can see in all these articles, on the last months we had more tech activity then the last years! (<del>Someone remembers the 90s?</del>) These have been the Baumtastic 5 of the week!

Don’t miss our next edition to find out about more interactive communication solutions!

Hewlett-Packard broke thousands of hearts with its latest news. HP won’t play on the tablets and smartphones war anymore. It looks like Apple has created a die hard monster not even HP can beat.

13 months ago HP was purchasing WebOS, and now, Leo Apotheker, HP’s CEO, made statements that indicated that tablets will be directly responsible for HP exit from consumer PC market. The process could take them between 12 and 18 months, but the company is considering this change because HP Touchpad, HP tablet or traditional PCs cannot offer an immediate solution to the low sales the company is suffering at the time.

“There is a clear movement in the segment of consumer PCs” said Apotheker “The tablet effect is real. HP Touchpad is not gaining enough traction in the market. Our PC business needs flexibility to make their own decisions” continue the executive.

HP’s despair is so severe that other company executives have made varied statements in different ways to suggest that, not only they are not meeting the targets set for the bet they have made with WebOS, but also they might even find an external partner to sell the operating system.

Best Buy wanted to return nearly a quarter of a million tablets they had not been able to sell due to the poor reception of the touchpad, which could only sell 25,000 units in the popular chain stores. Right now they are $99 to recover some investment. Or will this be the last gift given by the company?

What do you think of this strategy?

Apple continues to overcome expectations and actualizing their products in an amazing form. Between the months of September and October of 2011 the new iPhone 5 will be released. There are rumors that a cheaper price version will also come out known as the iPhone4S, the release of this device it’s supposed to increase market shares and establish in developing countries.

Some of the characteristics of the iPhone 5 are that it seems that its screen will be even larger, the Home button will change form and existence, instead of being round, it will be longer cause it will be a touch Home button. Also the new phone is going to be loaded with awesome new features like video chat on 3g and 4g (no longer restricted to WiFi only), face recognition and extreme downloading. There will be a new chat service between Apple devices. It will have the iOS 5.1 and the iCloud technology, the new cloud services from Apple.

As always there are fanatic people that will wait in line outside the Apple stores days before its official release. All of the above are merely speculations about the phone, as Apple is so reserved when it comes to give details about their new products, we will have to wait until the official day arrives to know the new changes that will surely leave more than one with their mouth wide open.

Apple has launched their new iMac, the ultimate all-in-one desktop computers that pretends to be even more powerful and always maintaining the classic design Apple is known for. Graphic Design reaches another level with a screen of 21.5 or 27 inches, with edge to edge glass that covers nearly the entire front of the enclosure. The wide screen is one of its main features, where you will enjoy movies, TV shows, FaceTime HD video calls, websites, photos and more!

It also features an HD resolution of 2560 x 1440, this means 78% more pixels than the 21.5 inch iMac becoming in the dream of web designers.

Apple engineers also implemented an intelligent control system that monitors temperatures and delivers just the right amount of airflow to critical components, the 3 fans inside the iMac have been adjusted to be very silent, so you will hardly notice that they’re on.

Another characteristic that makes this computer be equipped with the latest technology is that it has LED backlighting, the more pixels a display has, the more light those pixels need to achieve the best picture possible.LED backlighting pushes the light through each pixel with remarkable brightness and efficiency. Because the LED backlight doesn’t take up much space, the iMac enclosure stays thin , even with all the high-performance components inside.

Bye bye cords!

The powerful machine comes with a wireless keyboard and either a Magic Mouse or a Magic Trackpad it’s your choice. With Magic Mouse, you get a mouse unlike any other. Its smooth, seamless design lets you control everything with simple gestures. The Magic Trackpad its touch-friendly all-glass surface that gives you plenty of room to scroll, swipe, pinch, and rotate with your fingers vibe, ideally for designers!

The all-in-one design of the flat screen iMac helps organize your desk. It puts everything you need, display, processor, graphics card, hard drive, optical drive, memory, and more, inside one simple enclosure. With even built-in speakers that deliver loud, clear sound with notable bass response and very little distortion. Thanks to the seamless, precision-forged enclosure, it makes the back one continuous aluminum surface and there’s only one cord: the power cord.

Nowadays, Apple continues to be the trendsetter when it comes to all in one desktops. And if this isn’t enough, although it has so many qualities, it’s designed to have less impact on the environment than most other computers. It’s energy efficient, free of many harmful toxins, and made of highly recyclable materials. Definitely once more, Apple goes beyond expectations and the people who decide to obtain this marvelous product won’t regret it.

How many times has it occurred that finally you get the complete collection of an artist records and the hard disk fails? Hear the same music over and over because you forgot to synchronize the mp3 with your computer? Or you continuously have to make space in your hard disk in order to download new music? That’s why Cloud Music has arrived!

The Cloud Music term is an addition to what is known as Cloud. It’s a way to call the virtual space throughout the computers that are connected to the Internet. Therefore, Cloud Music is used when referred as the virtual storage of music in the Internet.

Usually, music tends to take up a lot of space in our computers. The advantage of using Cloud Music for storing them is that, the space that we used before now it’s going to be empty, which makes the computer run faster and we don’t risk losing all our music if the hard disk fails. Plus, by having a Cloud, we can always access our music from any other computer that has Internet connection as well as synchronize our mp3 players or any other type from other computer without relying only from ours. This means, we don’t only have the possibility to upload songs, we can also do streaming from the music in the cloud from any device. Ingenious right ?

On the other hand, there is slightly a disadvantage … it’s the Internet connection, as all the music is stored in the Internet, its logic that we should have a good connection in order to enjoy it, and there are some devices that don’t have an appropriate software to connect to wi-fi in a satisfactory way, or some places where there is no Internet access. Some companies assure that it will be possible to reproduce the music being offline , we will have to see how truly will that be.

So… how does it works ? There are some known companies that are offering the Cloud Music, such as Apple, Best Buy, Google and Amazon, that for example lets their users have 5 gigabytes of free space to start their cloud, and from there you can either buy the songs, or upload your own files to the cloud. In the majority of the cases, you have to pay to obtain more space than the one given at the beginning.

For example, Best Buy Music Cloud, requires users to sign in their official service web page , then download and install a software for PC or Mac that will scan your iTunes library ( no matter if you are an Apple user) so that you can start uploading music and use the service. Once installed the app and the software, you can enjoy your music from our devices, from which the app will be in charge of synchronizing the music.

This innovative alternative to solve the storage problems in your computer , is every time taking more strength as users trust increases in this concept of virtually storing all of our information. With no doubt it’s worth trying it!
